The CoyleGroup have just completed the design and build of a brand new, state of the art, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at the Priory Woodbourne Hospital. This facility has been developed to provide a fast turnaround service, where the focus is supporting young adults (18 years to 25 years) to improve their coping skills in the short term.
The 10 bed purpose built Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit provides large spacious mixed gender accommodation, therapy and activity space, with open access to fresh air via the secure gardens.
The unit boasts excellent facilities, designed to meet the Department of Health’s National Minimum standards for Young Adult Services in Psychiatric Intensive Care Units. The unit has been designed and built with a focus on integrating current best practice in both environmental performance and clinical care, in order to deliver a bespoke therapeutic environment.
The building is decorated with an up-to-date but homely finish and provides a safe and secure environment for all service users. Robust anti ligature fittings have been used throughout. Outdoors there are enclosed gardens and landscaped areas which can be enjoyed when the weather is nice. The building has been built to meet CQC standards, HTM84 fire regulations and all statutory building regulations.
